What is MNS?
Military Nursing Service is a short service commissioned/Permanent Commisioned officer post in the Indian army. Eligibility for Military Nursing Service
The service is acknowledged for those females who had qualified Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology; BSC (Nursing), Post Basic (PB), and MSC (Nursing) degrees from the Indian nursing council and should be registered nurses from any state nursing council.
Steps of Selections Process MNS
Written exam process
The first step of the selection process runs through the written exam. The shortlisted candidates were called for the written exam, which consists of 150 marks objective based on nursing, English language, Science and General Intelligence. The results declared on the official website of the Indian Army. Along with the result, interview instructions were given to the candidates.
Interview Round
After the written examination, the selected candidates will be called for the interview round which carries 100 marks to concede to the merits list. Stepping into the interview round and clearing the process, the candidate will be directed to the medical examination.
Medical Examination
The process of MNS Interview and MNS Medical Examination may take 2-5days. To crack the MNS Medical examination, decisive requirements are there for the selected candidates, are as follows:
- Candidate must be physically fit according to the military board.
- The 2 primary medical tests enforced, X-ray of Chest and USG (ultrasonography of the abdomen)
- Physical fitness test under medical board decided by DGAFMS
- Candidate must possess binocular vision, fusion faculty, and full-field vision of both eyes.
- A healthy body with good physic.
The arrangements for accommodation will be candidate responsibility. Only the required numbers of shortlisted candidates who are pronounced medically fit in all respect will be sent call letters to report to the various hospitals in Armed Forces. The decision of the Board for written test and interview will be final. Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT will be informed by the President of the Medical board including the procedure of requesting for APPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD. The candidate who will be called for interview, if found not in the possession of documents as per eligibility criteria, will be rendered ineligible to appear for the interview and the selection is liable to be cancelled. In such cases no TA will be applicable.
Military Nursing Physical Requirement
Visual standard: Myopia and hypermetropia will be checked
Minimum visual activity should incorporate
Myopia | Less than -5.5D |
Manifest hypermetropia | Less thanplus 3.5D |
Field of vision | Normal in each eye |
Color vision | Minimum CP-3 standard |
If the candidate is habitual, power of lenses has to note
Height: minimum height required and allowed is 1.3cm.
Weight: minimum weight of candidate should be 39kg
Minimum chest measure is 77cm without expansion and 82cm with expansion.
Documentation Before An Interview and Medical Examination
The candidates who are shortlisted have to bring the following documents and certificates.
- Certificate of passing class 10th standard
- Certificate of the nursing degree course
- NCC (if any)
- Proof id of Indian citizenship Nationality
- Character certificate issued by any of the university
- NOC (required in case if employed)
Note- it’s always important to know the criteria and eligibility before applying for any exam. For Nursing Officers with B Sc Nursing, qualification is eligible for one year antedate of commission; Nursing Officers with M Sc Nursing qualification are eligible for two years to antedate of commission and one year antedates for each completed year of the previous service rendered in Nursing Profession after fully qualifying as nurse-midwife in a Government recognized Hospital/Medical College/Health Institute subject to a max of two years antedate and provided that previous service was not terminated on grounds of unsuitability or misconduct or profound professional negligence or indiscipline or any other disciplinary ground.
In the case of a candidate who is eligible for antedate under more than one of the preceding clauses, the total period of antedate will be limited to two years. The period of antedate will neither carry any back pay in any case nor will it count for gratuity as per rules.
