Keeping and acknowledging those efforts in mind, The Government Of India comes up with a lot of schemes and beneficiary initiatives for the Indian Defence Sector from time to time.

Today on the 10th Anniversary of one of those great initiative schemes we’ll ponder on the One Rank One Pension Scheme (OROP), with the thought and tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the veterans and ex-service personnel who dedicate their lives to protecting our nation.

Influence on Veterans and their families:  Orop has benefitted around 25 Lakh veterans and their families bringing much-needed financial support to the ex-servicemen community.

  • And unintentionally it has filled the gap between their sacrifices and the rewards they received post-retirement.
  • Contributed to building a stronger bond between the Indian Government and its military Veterans.

Amendment in Pension Under OROP: The Ministry Of Defence has announced the most important revisions that will benefit the pensioners starting July 1, 2024, These changes are applied are mentioned below:

  • Commissioned officers,
  • honorary commissioned officers, and JCOs/ORs
  • Family pensioners of deceased service personnel
  • Defence Security Corps and Territorial Army personnel Ex-State Forces veterans

Overall Outlook on OROP:  The One Rank One Pension scheme has improved the pension framework and removed historical disparities among veterans with similar rank and service duration.

The re-fixation of pensions every five years ensures that the scheme remains adaptable to the evolving needs of ex-servicemen and their families. It also continues to be a powerful symbol of the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its military personnel, many of whom are at the forefront of protecting India’s borders and interests.
