What is the MNS Exam?
MNS stands for Military Nursing Service. It is an integral component of the Indian Army. Every year, the Indian Army conducts a national-level test to select deserving and qualified female candidates for the grant of commission in this prestigious service.
As part of the training process, the selected candidates undergo a four-year B.Sc. (Nursing) course. There are a total of 220 seats for this course. These 220 seats have been distributed among 6 Colleges of Nursing under the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).
After the completion of the four-year course, the candidates serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services of the Indian Army as a Military Nursing Service (MNS) officer. They join at the rank of a Lieutenant and receive all the pay and perks given to officers.

Applications are invited from female candidates who have qualified NEET (UG)-2025, conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), for admission to a four-year BSc
(Nursing) The course commencing in the year 2025 at the Colleges of Nursing under the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).
Candidates will be selected for admission at Colleges of Nursing based on the final merit cum choice prepared using NEET (UG) 2025 score, Computer Based Test of General Intelligence, General English (ToGIGE), Psychological Assessment and Interview, subject to medical fitness and vacancies at each College.
It is mandatory for all candidates desirous of seeking admission to the BSc Nursing course at AFMS institutions to:
(a) Qualify NEET (UG)-2025 conducted by NTA.
(b) Register and apply at the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
(c) Appear for the screening process at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt (BHDC) on the given date if shortlisted to attend the same.
Eligibility Conditions:
(a) Female candidates who are unmarried/divorced/legally separated/widows without encumbrances.
(b) Nationality: Citizen of India
(c) Date of Birth: Born between 01 Oct 2000 and 30 Sep 2008 (both days inclusive).
Physical Standards:
Medical fitness for admission to the BSc (Nursing) course will be decided by the medical board, conducted as per the standards and criteria prescribed and amended from time to time. The minimum height required for entry into the Armed Forces for female candidates is 152 cm. Candidates from Hill and North Eastern States will be accepted with a minimum height of 147cm. An allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made for candidates below 18 years at the time of examination.
SC/ST Candidates:
It is mandatory to possess an SC/ST certificate issued by a competent authority not below the rank of a 1st class Magistrate/ Tehsildar / Sub Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or her family normally resides. (g) NCC ‘C’ Candidates: Candidates who have qualified for NCC ‘C’ are required to upload their NCC ‘C’ certificate.
Screening Process
(a) Short listing of candidates: The short listing of candidates will be done through NEET (UG) 2025 scores. The reference numbers of the candidates who are shortlisted for the screening process will be displayed at the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for ToGlGE, Psychological Assessment, Interview and Medical examination at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt. The admit card for the same can be downloaded from the above website.
Note: Request for change of date of screening process will NOT be entertained except under extreme circumstances.
(b) Verification of Documents: All shortlisted candidates will be required to produce originals of all documents listed in the admit card at the time of the screening process at BHDC. In case the candidate is not in possession of original certificates at the time of screening, she must produce an original receipt from the institution where the original documents are deposited. An undertaking to this effect must also be given by the candidates to produce all original certificates at the time of admission.
(c) Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGlGE): Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGlGE) will be in the form of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of 40 MCQs of two marks each for a maximum of 80 marks. There will be a negative mark of 0.5 for every incorrect answer.

(d) Psychological Assessment and Interview: All shortlisted candidates will undergo Psychological Assessment and Interview by a Board of Officers at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. The candidates may be asked questions on the core subjects up to Std XII, General Knowledge, Current affairs and their interests, hobbies, etc.
(e) Medical Examination: All candidates have to be medically fit, keeping in view the specific training requirements, charter of duties and level of fitness desired for candidates to join MNS. All shortlisted candidates will undergo the Special Medical Board (SMB) at the Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. Candidates will be informed about their medical status on completion of medical examination.
Candidates declared UNFIT by the Medical Board may appeal against the decision by depositing Rs 40/- (Rupees Forty only) by MRO.
Application along with a receipted copy of MRO must be presented by the candidate and should report to the concerned hospital for the Appeal Medical Board (AMB) within 24 hours from the date of SMB.
Final Selection:
The final selection of a candidate will be based on the combined merit of NEET (UG) 2025 scores + ToGIGE score + Psychological Assessment and Interview, subject to medical fitness. Merit List will be prepared and colleges will be allocated to the selected candidates based on the merit cum choice, subject to seats available at each college. The list of selected candidates will be published on the JIA website. The candidates are required to check the website regularly for updates. How to Apply
(a) Interested candidates who have qualified for NEET (UG) 2025 may register through www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The portal will be accessible after the declaration of NEET (UG) 2025 results. The candidates will be able to register ONLINE by providing their name, mobile number, email ID and other details. The scanned copy of the required documents also needs to be uploaded in the prescribed size and format. The candidate’s email ID will be the user ID for this website, and the candidate will select her own password. Candidates must keep a note of their username and password for accessing the website and for all future correspondence.
(b) Candidates are requested to make corrections in the filled application form using the EDIT menu and ensure all corrections are made before clicking the SUBMIT button. Correction in the application will not be possible after final submission.
(c) All candidates (except SC/ST) will have to pay a sum of Rs 200/- only as application processing fee through the ONLINE payment gateway. SC/ST candidates have to upload the documentary proof.
(d) On completion of online payment, a bank reference number (DU number) will be generated, and a confirmation page will be displayed. The candidates may note the DU number in all future references (except SC/ST).
(e) Candidates may take a printout of the filled application for their own reference, along with the payment confirmation page.

As per the new syllabus for MNS (Military Nursing Service) – 2025, the “General Intelligence” section mainly includes:
1. Reasoning Ability (both verbal and non-verbal)
2. Basic Numerical Ability / Elementary Math
General Knowledge is not included in the “General Intelligence” section. GK is a separate subject and is not a part of the CBT exam under the latest MNS 2025 pattern.
So, focus on reasoning and math-based logical questions for this section.
