Key Highlights of the SSB Interview

If you mention in your SSB interview that you have a great interest in current affairs and read newspapers daily, you signal to the Interviewing Officer (IO) that you are prepared to discuss current affairs. It is quite common for candidates to include this in their introduction.

Sometimes, questions related to current affairs may be asked; other times, they may not. Many candidates have reported that their personal interviews were based on their PIQ forms. It is not guaranteed that the IO will ask questions related to current affairs just because you mentioned it in your introduction. However, you should be prepared for such questions since you specifically brought it up.

This principle applies to other aspects as well. Interviews generally start with an introduction where the interviewer asks you to tell something about yourself. Therefore, be specific in what you say, as the IO is likely to cover those topics and ask related questions. In SSB interviews, personal interviews often revolve around the candidate’s PIQ form.
