General awareness plays a role of vital importance in SSB for every aspirant who wants to join Indian armed forces.

From the perspective of Joining Indian armed forces in officer cadre, general awareness becomes very sensitive segment to study. As per report out of 100, 58 to 60 percentage candidates, in interview are getting rejected due to poor general awareness.

Now let me tell you what is the term general awareness?

As an officer one must be aware about One’s family background in detail, social background in detail , historical background of his native place, political background, about hobbies, extra co curricular activities, game of interest and also subjective part of hobby game and the activity which one performs/possess.

When I meet defence aspirants from different parts of India who come to join Centurion Defence Academy, Lucknow, U.P., I observe lack of basic general awareness which is common amongst all. In SSB interview, basic questionnaire authenticates level of general awareness of the candidates during personal interview round (Vacha) . These questions are generally related with candidates personality profile or academic profile. No rocket science is evolved in process of selected candidates in officer cadre. I get surprised to see candidates having excellent academic record but General awareness is not up to the mark. Here in this category, candidate’s academic profile does not operate with his/her personality profile.

Here at Centurion Defence Academy, since day 1, we structure general awareness sessions as per lesson plan. These sessions are conducted by ex defence officers. Age, exposure level and type of entry constitute the demand of the general awareness. For example, for NDA, NDA FOUNDATION or MNS entry, where candidate is just 12th passed, the exposure level as per age is usually low as compared to CDS, AFCAT and Service entry.
