Avinash Pokhriyal belonging to Manipur got the recommendation from 31 SSB, Jalandhar for CDS OTA. This young student had the urge and desire to work for the nation and to make his father and country proud. It was his own dedication, patience, hard work, discipline, and firm belief that he wanted to fulfill his father’s wish to become a Defence Officer which he could not fulfill as his father was academically weak. Though Avinash had appeared previously also but could not be screened in as he fell behind in his written and SSB Interviews this did not affect his willpower and confidence and he overcame his shortcomings and got recommended in his successive attempts which he gave his whole passion and soul as no option was left to back out since this he wanted to live and achieve his father’s dream and purpose to work for the nation being an Armed Forces Officer. Let us have a look below at his wonderful and historic feat following his heartfelt success at selection-

Success Journey-

Well, words fall short when the dream and goal that you made or saw get accomplished before your eyes, and the pride that you experience in seeing the happiness of your parents and loved ones knows no bounds and is hard to describe or express in words when Avinash got the confirmation that he was finally selected this time which he happily and proudly cherished as he was able to fulfill his father’s dream through his own recommendation and selection.

Hailing from a small northern state Manipur and having a civilian background with his father always had the dream of wearing the uniform and working for the country which he unfortunately could not due to a lack of financial resources and being weak at academics. It was his dream and patience along with determination and self-discipline of himself to wear the uniform and this motivated him a lot to work for the betterment of the nation and to honor and live the glorious life of an Indian Armed Forces Officer just the way his father had the dream to work for and this motivated him, ignited his passions, to feel the surge and finally he was recommended after repeated failure and hardships. It was his sole ambition and dream so much that he had failed in his previous attempts but was hell bend to crack the CDS Exam which he successfully did after joining the 21-day SSB Course at Centurion Defence Academy.

His journey throughout has been a mix of both positives and negatives as no journey to success is complete without failures and failures are the stepping stones and guiding path to success. He gave his written exams but could not clear through and was rejected due to low confidence, inability to express or bring out his thoughts forward, being weak at GTO Tasks, and extra pressure but this did not demotivate him rather it made him want to accomplish more and reach higher and ignited his hunger for success and this gave him the power to achieve his dream in his final attempt because he believed that he has to accomplish his father’s dream and stand proudly before him wearing that decorated uniform and seeing him with happiness though there were a lot of hurdles with not only failing at being selected in his first attempt but also the issue of Covid which he also contracted, financial issues, and state crisis issue that made his online classes and training to come at a halt with no access to the internet due to some crisis in Manipur which were impediments in his success but he achieved them with his strong will power and determination and support of Team Centurion.

Avinash joined Centurion’s Course via the online mode after Class XI when he was fascinated for the first time seeing the Army Officers at his school, Kendriya Vidyalaya he wanted to join the Defence Forces thus he was looking for the proper mentorship and guidance from the apt coaching and came across Centurion Defence Academy and was fascinated and intrigued by the preparation process. He credits the unique individualistic and personalised approach for helping him stay well prepared for both stages wherein he followed a strict routine and being punctual in studies and routine, having a fixed timetable, getting a studious and disciplined as well as competitive atmosphere with the best industry teachers to guide and motivate in his entire journey where he got guidance from the teachers, he self-introspected, gave regular mock tests, practiced PPDT, SRT’s, WAT’s that led him to know his strengths and work on his weak points and in turn build his confidence as well.

As in the words of Avinash, “I am very grateful that Centurion Defence Academy believed and helped me in achieving and fulfilling my dream though I was financially weak but still Shishir sir believed in me, helped me waive off my fees and helped me with all the hurdles that were pressing me related to my diagnosis of Covid and also the issue related to my hostel and crisis of internet that affected my studies so I will forever be grateful and obliged for the unwavering support I received from the teachers, staff and Shishir Sir especially. Apart from this being consistent is the key to success and prioritizing your needs and requirements is the utmost crux in achieving the goal.

The balanced coaching and guidance that is fostered at Centurion has proved fruitful in achieving and ensuring his mission as all his expectations, and objectives were met in the most diligent and viable manner which made him reach and fulfill his objective. As Avinash stated, “It is very important to understand that SSB depends on dedicated, self-disciplined, and confident with utmost patience. Following a focused routine, giving regular mock tests, doing selective preparation, mastering your weak points, and self-introspecting yourself will definitely help you in achieving the goal.”

Last but not least as described by Avinash, “A special mention to Ranneeti book in which the psychology portion is so aptly described which gave a very good exposure at story making, narration, OIR portion, WAT, SRT’s and the efficient time management as discussed in the book and its importance which I followed rigorously and because of which I was able to finish all psych tests in the allotted time period and especially Shishir Sir who took motivation classes, took doubt-clearing sessions, psychology lectures and classes and also felicitated us at various occasions which motivated me a lot and was available round the clock for any kind of doubt clearing or guidance of any kind.”

As in the words of Avinash, “When I appeared for my written and was disqualified in my previous attempts, it demotivated me but with Centurion’s planned study time-table and guidance I came back with full zeal to appear for my written and subsequently was confident and calm with a composed attitude as this time I was already prepared and knew my weak points which made me control my nervous bouts and panic attacks and I went in, answered each of the questions with ease and clarity and came out hoping I had answered everything the way it should have been and that I would not have repeated the same mistake I had done before. Amid all the stress and panic that I, as well as my parents, were having at that particular moment was really very tense but as soon as I got the recommendation I was completely blank and numb, my happiness knew no bounds as I had finally managed to achieve my far-fetched dream and was really happy at my success and I saw the happiness of my father who became very emotional as I finally fulfilled his dream and also the happiness was unmeasured and I felt as the luckiest and blessed child of my proud parents”.
