NDA Success Story of Santosh Kumar

The relentless and passionate lad, Santosh has somewhere made the rural section of our society proud. Santosh has been recommended for NDA-153. Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, this young boy had the dream to achieve something big in his life for himself as well as his family. It was his own conviction and determination to see himself serving the nation and this reason was enough to motivate him, igniting his passions and he felt the urge to become a Defence Officer. Though hailing from a very small village named Moraina there were tonnes of challenges and ups and downs but this did not deter his passion and confidence and he aced the NDA-153 exam on his very first attempt itself.

Journey of Santosh-

Giving a detailed description of his personal experience, Santosh said that he had a very firm determination since his Class-XI that he has to join Defence Services and he began working hard to achieve his goal. Hailing from a Gramin Prashth Bhoomi his journey was very tough as he mentioned that often there was a problem of correct guidance, lack of English medium schools, lack of good coaching and narrow-minded ideology of his native village but this all made his determination more resolute and he became adamant to conquer and achieve all the hurdles.

He mentioned that in Class- VIII it was his teacher, Naveen Sir that mentioned stories and anecdotes of great freedom fighters who fought for the glory of their nation and this led to the spark of fire in Santosh’s heart to serve and work for the welfare of the nation. Thus, he diligently worked towards achieving his dream of joining the Armed Forces and so his teachers guided him to go for NDA and as a result his journey started and when he came in Class-XI he purchased a phone to access the possibilities and search for better avenues to achieve his dream and suddenly he saw Youtube channel and video sessions and attended online classes of Centurion Defence Academy and consequently enrolled himself in Centurion Defence Academy, Indira Nagar branch of Tejas Batch in April 2023.

Experience and Strategy-

Talking about his experience and strategy in the writtens, GD, Psych tests and Personal Interview he mentioned that it is very important to focus on mathematics part via practicing a lot, solving questions daily to get a high score as comparatively it is easy to score high in GAT and to focus on topics like Algebra and Calculus to get qualifying marks and to refer previous year papers. He also emphasised to read newspapers for improving spoken English and to rehearse in front of mirror to improve your fluent speaking skills. For GAT section he told to read current affairs regularly as this helps a lot for acing the Lecturette round as well. For the SSB Preparation, he reiterated that along with preparing for your writtens it is mandatory to devote at least an hour daily by doing self-study and referring YouTube videos and making notes. Also practicing stress management along with self-appreciation and self-motivation is key in acing your SSB Round. For GD, he mentioned to all the aspirants that it is important to know how to enter the group and make your view and importance and to work in the best interests in whichever direction the group is going so as to add weightage and value to your idea and thoughts so that the Group is influenced by you. Also, for the Psych preparation he insisted on solving at least 1 dozier assessment daily because practice and self-assessment can make you gain confidence and to practise daily WAT, SRT because quality matters more than quantity. For Personal Interview, it is important to focus on PIQ and answer all questions with diligence and honesty as most of the questions are based on the same. For Group Tasks, he says that it is important to be agile, physically and mentally sound and be alert at all instances with sharp presence of mind to conquer and devise a way to clear all obstacles. Lastly, for the PPDT, it is important to showcase leadership qualities as that creates a lasting impression and makes you a desirable candidature in the group who your peers think as one to look for and makes you a strong competitor. The interviewing officers were fairly impressed by his simple, direct and up- to- point answers which made him assail with confidence before the assessors which he nailed with a great panache.
