14 December 2024.

On this historic day, Shashank Tiwari was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army.

He joined the distinguished Sikkim Scouts, a regiment known for its courage and operational excellence in some of India’s most challenging terrains.

For Lt. Shashank Tiwari, receiving the stars on his shoulders was not merely a personal achievement.

During the movement, tragedy struck.

While crossing a narrow wooden bridge over a fast-flowing mountain stream, an Agniveer reportedly lost balance and fell into the icy river.

The water was freezing.
The current was violent.
Every second mattered.

Without hesitation and without concern for his own safety, Lt. Shashank Tiwari jumped into the raging waters to rescue his fellow soldier.

A fellow serviceman also entered the river to assist.

Together, they managed to save the trapped soldier’s life.
