General Awareness

General Awareness was one of the easier sections and covered a broad mix of defence, current affairs and static GK. Questions were recalled from topics such as Arjan Singh, RUDRAM-1 and RUDRAM-2, Operation Ganga, Operation Safed Sagar, LAMITIYE, Tiger Triumph, Vajra Prahar, Yudh Abhyas, PM MITRA Parks, Article 270, Finance Commission, tsunami, drainage patterns, Green India Mission, C-DOT, Mirabai Chanu and the French Revolution.

English

English was moderate but lengthy, particularly because of Reading Comprehension. Memory-based questions included Ubiquitous, Entomology, Fortune favours the bold and To break a butterfly upon a wheel. Vocabulary and comprehension were important, along with grammar.

Reasoning & Military Aptitude

Reasoning was moderate and included Clock, Calendar, Dice, Mirror Image, Coding-Decoding and Blood Relations, along with verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions.

Expected Cut-Off

The official cut-off has not been released yet. Based on the overall difficulty of both shifts, 120–130 marks can be considered a practical safe-score range. However, this is only an estimate and should not be treated as the official AFCAT cut-off.

Final Verdict

The AFCAT 2 2026 paper held on 8 August was a balanced but time-sensitive examination. General Awareness offered several direct questions, while Mathematics required more calculation time. English tested comprehension and vocabulary, and Reasoning remained moderate.

The questions from both shifts show that AFCAT continues to give importance to defence awareness, current affairs, static GK and basic conceptual knowledge.

Candidates should now wait for the official response sheet and answer key before calculating their final score. For future aspirants, this paper highlights the importance of regular current-affairs revision, defence GK, calculation practice, English reading skills and timed mock tests.
