Short Service Commission (NT) Course For Law Graduates (Men & Women)

The Indian Army has released a short Notification on its official website for the recruitment of JAG Entry Scheme 123rd Course, April 2026 Batch Short Service Commission (NT) for Law Graduate (Men & Women). The application form has started on 05 August 2025, & The candidates can apply till or before the 04th of September 2025. Minimum Age required is 21, & The maximum age is 27 years as on 01 January 2026. Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidate must be one of the following:

A citizen of India
A subject of Nepal
A person of Indian origin who migrated from certain countries and holds a certificate of eligibility from the Govt. of India

Only the date of birth on the 10th/12th certificate will be accepted.

Educational Qualification

Note: Only those candidates who have completed their LLB and hold the mark sheet are eligible.

All candidates must get their CLAT PG 2025 result verified at the SSB Centre. Without this, you will not be allowed to attend SSB.

All selected candidates must meet these standards before joining OTA.

Training & Commission Details

Training will take place at OTA, Chennai and will start in April 2026.
The training period is 49 weeks long.
After completing training, you’ll be commissioned as a Lieutenant.
You will also receive a Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management & Strategic Studies from the University of Madras.
This is of the Short Service Commission (SSC), which you will serve for 10 years, which may be extended up to 14 years.

Terms of Service

Initial service is for 10 years, and it can be extended up to 14 years.
After 10 years, you can apply for Permanent Commission (if you’re eligible and selected).
You can choose to leave the Army after 5 years (with approval) or after 10 years.
Reasons like getting a civil job, higher studies, or starting your own business are accepted for release after extended service.
Even after leaving, you may be kept under reserve duty for up to 7 years, or till age 40 (for men) and 37 (for women), whichever comes first.

Important Notes

All officers will be on probation for 6 months from the date of commission.
If you leave training for any reason other than medical, you’ll have to pay back the cost of training, which is about ₹18,965 per week.
