30 TAT Pictures with Answers for the SSB Interview 2025

TAT or Thematic Apperception Test is one of the four psychological tests conducted on Day 2 of the five-day SSB Interview process. In the TAT, 12 pictures are shown one by one for 30 seconds each, and the candidate is expected to write a meaningful story around each picture in 4 minutes. A 12th blank slide is also shown where the candidate has to imagine a picture and write a story.

The images shown in TAT are slightly hazy but clearer than the PPDT (Picture Perception and Description Test) images. Unlike PPDT, where candidates identify the number of characters and narrate a story in a group, TAT requires writing a story only, based on observation and imagination.

How to Write a Good TAT Story:

Observe the picture very carefully for 30 seconds.
Identify a central character (usually someone of your age) and make them the hero.
Show Officer-Like Qualities (OLQs) through the character’s actions.
Try to find hidden problems and give practical solutions.
Conclude with a positive ending.
Link the story of the blank slide with your overall personality traits.

Story – Rahul’s Teamwork for Water

One day, Rahul and his friends were walking past the school office when they saw a peon putting up a new notice. Curious, they all went closer to read it. The notice was about an upcoming science exhibition and invited students to participate with their own projects.

Rahul got excited and immediately shared an idea about water conservation with his group. They decided to work as a team. With help from their science teacher, they used simple materials to build a working model. On the exhibition day, their project was appreciated and even won a prize. Ravi quickly talked to his parents about it and convinced them to give his sister some time. He discussed the matter with the bridegroom, too, who also supported and encouraged her in the decision. She was very happy and motivated, and took admission in a flying school. Rajat thanked the bridegroom and parents and continued his daily work.

Story – Tarun’s Quick Action

Tarun went for an evening walk one day. He loves to spend time near the river, as it is always a peaceful environment. But when he reached there, he saw a notorious boy jump into the river and was struggling. He immediately ran towards him and untied the safety rope nearby. He threw the rope towards him and pulled him out of the water.

But the boy was unconscious, so he laid him down and pushed the stomach area to pump the water out. The boy regained consciousness soon and was safe. Tarun took him to a doctor nearby and also informed his parents. He advised him not to risk his life that way and left for his walk once his parents arrived.

Story- Developing Vaccine for COVID-19

Anamika is a microbiologist working at Serum Institute of India. During the COVID-19 outbreak, Sunita was asked to develop a Vaccine for the COVID-19 virus. Anamika started collecting all biological information on the COVID-19 virus from her co-worker Roshni.

Sunita also took the help of international medical journals. After collecting all the necessary information about covid COVID-19 virus, Anamika did several tests on the virus and made an effective vaccine for the virus. Anamika ensured that the vaccine she developed would be low-cost so that everyone could buy the vaccine. Through the efforts of Anamika, people got vaccines for the COVID-19 virus at a low price.

Story- Developing Organic Pesticide for Farmers

Kiran is an agricultural scientist working at ICAR. Recently, she was sent by the agriculture department to conduct a survey on ‘Pesticide Use in Rural Areas’. In the survey, Kiran found out that Farmers were using excessive chemical pesticides. Pesticides impacted not only farmers’ health but also reduced the quality of the product. After the survey, Kiran submitted her report and asked permission to develop a low-cost organic pesticide for Farmers.

Kiran found that ‘Neem’ can be the best substitute for pesticides. Kiran developed a pesticide by using seeds of Neem. Kiran gave the pesticide developed by her to farmers and also taught them how to develop organic pesticides. Through the efforts of Kiran, farmers started using organic pesticides, and they were able to save money as well as their health.

Story- Preparing for an upcoming math test

Ankit is a student of St. Francis School. The Maths Teacher of Ankit announced that he will conduct a test after a few days. Ankit felt a little sad because he was weak in maths. But Ankit decided that he would overcome this weakness and score well in the maths test. Ankit took the help of his friend Ramesh, who was good at maths, and started solving maths questions daily.

Ankit also watched some YouTube maths lectures to improve his maths. Before tests, Ankit wrote down all the formulas of maths on paper so that he could memorise them. Ankit started giving extra time on maths before the maths test. On the day of the test, Ankit gave his test with full confidence and got good marks in the test.

Story- Solving the Drinking Water Problem of Villagers

Shrestha is the Pradhan (village leader) of Rampur. Villagers in Rampur Village used to fetch water from the nearby river to meet their need for drinking water. Many people used to fall sick because of this water. Shrestha decided to make people request that villagers not use water from the river for drinking.

Shrestha requested the local District Magistrate to set up a handpump in the village so that people do not use the unclean water of the river. Shrestha installed a signboard on the ghat of the river, cautioning people not to use the water from the river. After getting the handpump installed in the village, she went to the people and requested them to use water from the handpump, not from the river. Through the efforts of Shrestha, the people of Rampur Village stopped using river water and stopped falling ill.

Story- Standing for Election in Village

Prasad is a resident of Karanpur village. He came back to his village after completing an MBA (Rural Management) and found out that basic facilities provided by the administration were absent. When he enquired about the reason, he came to know that the current leader is very corrupt and does nothing for the development of the village. Prasad wrote a letter to the District Magistrate about the corruption committed by the local leader.

Prasad decided to stand for election and do development work in his village. He went to every person in the village and convinced people to vote for him based on his merit. Prasad won the election and became the village leader. After becoming the village leader, Prasad started implementing development schemes in his village by using the knowledge he got in his MBA (Rural Management). Story- Catching Chain Snatcher

Utkarsh is an NCC Cadet. One day, when he was going to attend the NCC Camp, he was alarmed by the approaching footsteps. He saw that a man took a leap, snatched the gold chain from the woman sitting on the rickshaw, and started running. The woman shouted, “Catch him”. Utkarsh, being a sprinter, followed the thief, and with the help of other people, he overpowered the thief.

He took the gold chain from the thief and returned it to the woman. He, with the help of the local public, took the snatcher to the nearby THANA, asked the woman to lodge an FIR, and put the snatcher behind bars. The woman thanked Utkarsh for the help he offered.

Story – A Small Gesture, A Warm Connection

It was late summer, and the lamp on Param’s desk lit up his face as he sat deeply focused on his reading. Suddenly, there was a gentle knock at the door. He looked up, slightly irritated at being interrupted.

He went up and opened the door. Priya, his neighbour, stood there, kind of smiling shyly as she held out a small lamp. “Hi Param, she said softly, I saw that you had that empty window box in front of your place, so I brought you this to brighten things up in your room.

Param’s face broke into a smile. He said That was very thoughtful of you, Priya. Please come in. He moved to open the door for her. What she had done touched him greatly; it meant more to Param than any light which brightened up the room.

Story – Saving the Village, One Drop at a Time

It was very hot that afternoon. In a small group under the shade of an old, weathered tree, the villagers had come together. Worry and fear were on their faces. All eyes and ears were on Dinanath Kaka, the village elder, who stood there, a serious man with a raised finger.

Rains had been irregular; in some years, there had been none at all, which left the fields dry and cracked instead of full of life. Dinanath Kaka spoke out; he did so calmly but very surely. He said the village needed a new well and that everyone should help, not just by giving money, but also by putting in their time and hard work.

The villagers paid close attention, and they agreed; they knew he was right. If they were to survive, it had to be fast. By the time he finished speaking, they had quietly decided to work together and build the well for the better future of their village.

Story – The Day the Hall Caught Fire

The street is a busy place most times, but today it was quiet; instead, there was the sound of the fire, which was crackling. From the old community hall came thick black smoke, and people began to gather, their faces a study in worry.

A young woman held on tightly to her husband. An old man said, “Not the hall, I have too many memories of that. Grief filled all. That hall, which hosted weddings, festivals, and village gatherings, is on fire. It is in ruins.

People saw to it that they looked around, that maybe there was still someone inside. Where were the firefighters? Each minute stretched out as the fire grew larger, sending black smoke into the air.

Story – A Small Idea, A Big Change

Sharad, a young civil engineer, went back to his village for a visit. He saw Kisan, his neighbour, struggling to plough his field. The soil was very hard, and the oxen were worn out. Sharad knew the harvest was of great importance to the village. He went over to help out. Using what he had learned in school, He suggested a straightforward way to repair the plough.

Together at it, which brought about a better design of a plough out of wood, and spent the day at work in the sun. In the evening fell the field was ready. Kisan thanked Sharad, and the village elders put forth that Sharad was very ingenious. Others had things to put forward and ways to help out.

Story – Rising Together with Yuvraj

Yuvraj, as a college student, noted that many of the young people in his town were without hope and direction. He set out to bring them together on weekends to talk about careers, present-day issues, and the options for change.

One day, under the trees that served as shade by a community hall, Yuvraj mustered a group of young men with very energetic words. They raised their hands up to show support and interest. He told them to reach for the stars and, in the process, to help others. What he did grew into a youth movement. The town was seeing better days thanks to Yuvraj.

Story – A Friend Who Didn’t Give Up

Ramesh is a 24-year-old student at Babu Banarsi Das Engineering College in Lucknow. One time, when Ramesh was on his way back from classes, he noticed that his friend Shweta was sitting under a tree, and she appeared to be very sad. Upon asking what the matter was, Shweta said that she did not do well in the CAT exam. She scored below average in Quantitative Aptitude, which brought down her total score.

Ramesh got her calm, and he said he would help her in the upcoming CAT exam. He began to teach her quantitative aptitude, which was in addition to what he used to teach. Also, at home, he gave Shweta questions to solve. Whenever she had a difficult question, Ramesh used to put that right for her, and he also included in his method short tricks to solve questions. In the end, when the results of the CAT came out, Shweta did well and got into the MBA college of her choice she got in.

Story – Chasing the Light in the Dark

With a murky moon in the shadowy clouds, Rohan quickly noticed a light off in the distance and, without thinking, he began running up the hill. His friend Sameer watched from below, pointing and yelling, “Hurry, before we miss it!” They had already been searching for something important for hours, which was leading them on weak trails in the dark.

Whatever it was was very important, and perhaps even a life would depend on it. Tension was heavy in the air. Rohan was running with determination, and Sameer was aiding him from behind. They didn’t have time, but they were simply not going to give in. Teamwork and urgency were propelling them both forward in this split moment.

Story – A Wake-Up Call for the Young Salesman

Priya, the managing director and a strong woman, faced a new test. As a young salesman just out of business school walked into the office, assuming he would meet a man, he held a briefcase to make his presentation, but Priya, confidently sitting and speaking with a strong tone, nullified his act immediately.

She was still on the phone, but her eyes let the salesman know, “I run this office; you will wait.” The nervous deference that stole over him replaced a cheeky smile. This was not just another company; this was a woman’s world, and she was the chief!

Ramit looked at her, his thoughts filled with words which died on his tongue. Their hands, which once held out hope, now just lay together in silence. He was leaving to go to a far-off war, and they both felt this may be the last time they would see each other.

Story – A Special Day at School

A group of boys was on a small stage, which had simple curtains behind it. One boy in a Nehru cap very carefully put a rose on another boy. The boy receiving the rose looked a little shy but happy. Below the stage, two girls with braids and a group of students watched intently.

A microphone was set out nearby, perhaps for a speech or performance. That which transpired was of a school setting, a very cheerful and meaningful environment for the kids. The rose pinning was a special touch, a gesture of welcome, respect, or the beginning of something. There was a quiet warmth to the moment, which was filled with the simple joy and innocence of youth.

Story – A Day at the Employment Office

The long queue out at the Employment Exchange building, which at that time of year was the norm. Young men stood in it with mixed hope and desperation, holding their documents very close as if they were anchors. A guy in a plaid shirt tried to jump the queue, and he was given a glare by the person behind. In the very front of the line, a man was passing over his papers to the official in the booth.

There was an air of tension and quiet anxiety. As for the others, the two young men, for instance, who left the building, they were filled with disappointment. The Employment Exchange is a last resort; a daily lottery, a shot at a better life.

Story – Holding On Through the Storm

On a rainy, stormy night in the woods, a small group of friends found themselves in a tough spot. Two boys went up in a tree to get a better look at the weather, but as the wind and the rain increased, which they did greatly, the boys got stuck and had trouble getting back down. Also, below was a floor of new broken branches and leaves from an earlier storm.

The boys were tied to a large branch, their faces a mix of fear and determination. Below them, a woman and another man stood looking up with worry, at a loss for what to do next. They were in the middle of the forest, getting drenched, and the storm was only intensifying. The boys will have to get down soon; if the weather deteriorates any further, they won’t be able to get down at all.

Story – A Sudden Crash of Two Worlds

The air was filled with the smell of petrol and dust. In an accident that brought traffic to a standstill, a modern car had crashed into an old horse-drawn cart. The car’s front end was a mess, which told of the force of the impact. The cart was in bad shape, with its wheels bent out of place, and the horse that had been pulling it stood nearby, shaken but not hurt.

In the street, the cart driver was found to be still, also a number of people were in shock, standing around, at a loss for what to do. That which was supposed to be a simple crossing of travel methods had instead produced a tragic result.

Story – A Father’s Fight Against the Sea

The waves broke continuously, which put Captain Ranjeet at his wits’ end. He held fast to his young daughter, both of them a struggle in the rough sea beside a small turned-over lifeboat at their side. In the distance, what was left of their ship, which had run aground, was hardly visible now, going down with each passing moment. A few crew members still on board stood by uselessly, worry etched all over their faces. The old lifeboat, which the storm had beaten into submission, was all they had.

Ranjeet, a sailor who had seen many a storm in his time, said his was the biggest he had ever been in. All his focus now was on keeping his daughter safe, getting her into that lifeboat and away from the sinking ship. The clock was against them, and the sea was not in their favour.
