A Farmer’s Daughter with Sky-High Dreams

Karanveer comes from a humble background. Her father is a dedicated farmer, and her parents have been her rock-solid pillars of strength throughout her life. Brought up in a caring yet disciplined environment, Karanveer was instilled with values such as honesty, punctuality, and hard work from an early age. With an explorer’s heart and a long-standing aspiration to don the uniform, she enrolled herself in the National Cadet Corps NCC during her college days. She had no idea that it would be the make-or-break moment of her life.

Karanveer believes strongly that becoming a part of and successfully completing the NCC was the launching pad for her success. It helped her develop a sense of discipline, harmony, punctuality, coordination, and leadership –qualities that are not only the benchmark for defence aspirants but also the key to success in life. She also took part actively in several NCC activities, both in firing, football, and athletics, which contributed towards developing her mental and physical strength. She also won praise from her officers for her organisational skills and coordination of the team. Guided by Centurion Defence Academy: Mentorship that Mattered

Karanveer enrolled in the Centurion Defence Academy, where she received structured guidance. Her recommendation came from 3 AFSB Gandhinagar, after a rigorous five-day assessment.

Out of 70 candidates who reported, only 32 got screened in, and just 3 were recommended—one of them being Karanveer.

She underwent extensive training that covered:

• Psychology Tests (TAT, WAT, SRT, SD)
• PPDT & OIR preparation
• Personal Interview sessions
• GTO tasks like GD, GPE, PGT, HGT, Command Task, IO
• PIQ form-based answer framing

Karanveer personally thanked Shishir Sir [India’s Favourite Defence Exam Mentor] for guiding her in preparing interview responses to match her PIQ form, which placed her ahead in the one-hour-long personnel interview.

She also credited the key role played by Centurion Publications Ranneeti book, which helped her not just in written preparation but also enabled her to structure her mind nicely for psychology tests.

Inside the SSB: Her Real-Time Experience

1. Screening Day:

Of 70 applicants, 32 alone were shortlisted. Karanveer’s ppdt was impressive as she put in genuine emotions and reasoning, not memorized narratives. She stressed clarity, confidence, and composure while narration and during group discussions.

2. Psychological Tests:

With months of guided practice, she produced fresh, genuine answers on the TAT and tackled the WAT, SRT with rationality and emotional maturity. Her SDT was clean. Self-aware and consistent with her PIQ entries.

3. Personal Interview:

Her interview lasted a full hour, which is generally a sign that the assessors were genuinely interested in her personality and potential. She was asked about:

• Her NCC journey
• Achievements in sports
• Daily routine, hobbies (she loves painting and sweets)
• Her best friend and emotional intelligence
• Family background and life on a farm
• Expectations from NCC cadets in the IAF

Her answers reflected authenticity, self-awareness, and leadership potential, especially when she spoke about managing team activities in NCC and supporting weaker cadets in group tasks.

4. GTO Series:

She performed well in group discussion and the Group Planning Exercise alike by paying attention and coming up with relevant points without taking over the group.

She emphasized that yelling doesn’t score points good contribution does.

In PGT and not only did she demonstrate but also gave equal participation, motivating others and working harmoniously. Her work in individual obstacles was also appreciable –she finished 6 tasks with dedication and accuracy.

In the command task, she successfully applied for concept with teamwork and iteration of trials and demonstrated her pressure handling capability as well as leadership under limitations.
