How the Merit List is Prepared

The TES-55 merit list is prepared based on the performance in the SSB Interview and medical fitness status. Earlier, JEE Mains scores were used for shortlisting the candidates for SSB; however, JEE scores are not included in the final merit list.

Only those candidates who have:

  • Been declared medically fit,

are included in the final merit list.

The merit order will determine which candidates are selected for the joining letter to the IMA, Dehradun. However, getting your name on the merit list doesn’t automatically get you a joining letter; it depends on the available vacancies, plus medical clearance.

What Happens After the Merit List

Once the merit list is declared, the further stages begin. The candidates’ names listed in it will be called for joining instructions for the pre-commission training at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • The joining letters are issued in accordance with the merit order and availability of vacancies.
  • The candidates should report to IMA on the date as mentioned in the joining letter.
  • You will be put through a four-year training regimen that includes one year at the IMA and three years at a selected engineering college.
  • You will be commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army after completing your training, along with a B.Tech degree.
