Ishika Shukla is a very special student of Centurion Defence Academy because she has created history by becoming a part of the first female batch in the National Defence Academy. Ishika has always been part of the defence environment because her own father is a serving Army Personnel. But Ishika decided to join the National Defence Academy in her 10th class only. She came to know about the NDA from her mathematics teacher. But At that time NDA was not open for Females. But after the supreme court allowed Females to join NDA, she never looked back and was finally recommended by 22 SSB Bhopal.

Journey of Ishika Shukla

Ishika says that it was not her ultimate aim to prepare for NDA. She wanted to join IIT. But after coming to Centurion Defence Academy, She got extensive exposure to the Armed Forces. Although she was also an Army Brat but the exposure she got at Centurion Defence Academy completely changed her mind. Ishika says that she became so passionate about joining the Indian Armed Forces that she left the preparation for IIT to start preparing for NDA.

Ishika says that mathematics was her strong part, but she was lagging behind in the GAT part. Ishika says that subjects like history, geography, and polity were very new to her. But She started to like these subjects slowly. She mostly focused on GAT subjects and kept solving previous years’ question papers for mathematics. Ishika says that during her JEE preparation, she was not able to focus on his personality at all. She did not think about developing any hobbies, she did not do any physical exercises and she was not aware about any current affairs also.

Joining Centurion Defence Academy was a big turning point for Ishika. One of the biggest things she felt here was the change in her routine. She started doing physical exercises, developing hobbies, and current affairs. She started discussing her activities with her friends. She started following international issues such as Russia-Ukraine War. She also started discussing these topics with her friends also. She started developing hobbies like Kho-Kho and Jogging also. And Finally, She overcame her complaining nature.

Ishika says that Shishir Sir was a guide, friend, and philosopher to her. She recalls that Shishir Sir did her profile mapping and told her how to enhance her personality. He suggested that she be truthful. During her psych tests, Shishir Sir used to suggest to her where any action is lacking and where she can improve. Ishika says that whenever she had any doubt or she felt demotivated, she used to go to Shishir Sir and he used to motivate her. Ishika recalls that she used to come to the Library of Centurion Defence Academy and stay there the whole day. She used to prepare her Lecturette and Personal Interviews.

Ishika says that her family and friends were the biggest support for her. She says that her friends and his family used to motivate her and they had great expectations from her. Only the faith of her family and friends kept motivating her to keep going forward on her NDA Journey. Finally, at 22 SSB Bhopal, Ishika’s Dream came true and she was recommended for the NDA 149 Course.
